Takes about ten seconds, and it doesn't commit you to anything. You're just first in line if you want it.
The listing in Windhoek said one bedroom. The photos showed a bedroom and a living room in separate shots, exactly the way a one bedroom should look.
Something bothered me, so I looked closer. The same couch that was the star of the living room photo was sitting in the corner of the bedroom photo. The same light fixture appeared in both. It was one room, photographed from two angles.
I messaged the host and asked whether the bedroom was a separate room with a door. They confirmed it was a studio.
Here’s the part people don’t expect: I booked it anyway. Short stay, great location, a studio was fine for what we needed. That’s the whole point. This isn’t about rejecting places. It’s about knowing exactly what you’re booking, so the apartment you walk into is the one you expected.
I’m Lisa. Matt and I have traveled full time for nearly a decade, carry-on only, through close to 100 countries, and we’ve been staying in Airbnbs for well over a decade. Hundreds of stays.
I also see it from the other side. We’re hosts too, with a home in Pennsylvania we’ve rented out as an Airbnb for years. So I know what guests worry about, I know what experienced travelers check before they book, and I’ve watched how it looks from the host’s end.
None of this is hard, and most of it takes minutes. It’s a short list of habits that becomes second nature, and then booking stops being something you brace for.
The No-Regrets Guide to Booking Airbnbs the Right Way is the ten-step system, start to finish. Where to look before you open a single listing. How to read a neighborhood from the map. What the reviews are actually telling you. How to audit the photos for reality instead of aesthetics. The practical details most people skip, the short chapter on scams, and exactly what to do when something goes wrong.
HERE’S WHAT’S INSIDE:
Why you should never start with the listings, and where to start instead
The lens trick that makes a small apartment look twice its size
The one place in the photos almost nobody thinks to look
What to search the reviews for, and what three mentions of the same thing means
Why the star rating is a filter and not an answer
The ten seconds that catch a fake listing
What to ask a host, and what a vague answer tells you
The one check to do the day you book, before the window closes
What to do when a host cancels two weeks out, in a heat wave
Plus three checklists. One to work through before every booking, one for scam red flags, and one for when something goes wrong.
It’s $7 for three days. Then it’s $9.
The ebook goes live this week at $7. On day four it goes to $9 and stays there. Put your name down now and I’ll email you the day it’s out, while it’s still $7.
When it drops it’s an instant digital download. No shipping and no waiting. It’s yours to read the moment you grab it, on your Kindle or as a PDF on any device.
